PINT SELECTED ARTISTS UPDATE

Dear Fellow Artists,

The idea of an new and unique arts festival in Burton upon Trent has created a real buzz of positivity around the town. Everyone I have spoken to has been eager to hear more about the event and it has shown that there is a real passion to promote the visual arts here and revitalise the towns creativity.

Thank - you to all those selected artists who have posted their membership/inclusion fees already, this has meant we could upgrade the website and finish all the artist profiles that we have selected so far. Please do check your profiles on the website - www.pintartsfestival.co.uk - If there are any spelling errors/word changes/work updates/web links that need attention, then please inbox me asap and I'll get it sorted.

Over the last two months, I have had really positive meetings with more venues, organisations and local businesses. I now have the full co-operation of the National Brewery Centre, Burton Town Centre Management and support from the National Forest Company, Wirksworth Festival, Destination Staffordshire, Burton & South Derbyshire College and ESBC. Many more meetings are scheduled for the next few weeks.

Three new venues have agreed to be involved: Langan's Tea Rooms, The Wyggeston Hotel (Burton's biggest Pub) and The Red Lion in Repton. I have also had requests for venue meetings from The Devonshire Inn, The Albion, The Old Cottage Tavern and The Octagon Shopping Centre.

I would like to welcome our new very recently selected artists: Tom Voyce(Painting), Helen Meakin(Textiles), Cliff Warner(Painting).

Due to the amount of possible space available there is plenty of opportunity for more artists to get involved with the festival, I am especially interested to get more Sculptor/3D/PublicArt artists involved, as the National Brewery Centre are very keen to utilise as much of the building as possible and this includes a massive enclosed outdoor courtyard area. So, please spread the word to your friends and colleagues that we are still accepting submissions, we potentially have the whole of Burton as a gallery space!

A festival launch event will be held in early September at the Tower Brewery with music and business networking and The National Brewery Centre have offered to host an opening night event at the start of the festival in late October.

If you have a LinkedIn Account, please do join the 'PINT Arts Festival' Open Group. This will become the best place to raise issues, form discussions and generate ideas and is already a vital information hub for the festival.
